Scott McDougall's distinguished history of political involvement started in 1968 and has involved local constituency and provincial leadership positions, most notably four years on the Ontario P.C. Association Executive and serving as President of the Ontario P.C. Youth Association from 1976-78.
Over the years, Mr. McDougall has been involved in countless campaigns, written numerous pieces of campaign literature and organizational materials, actively participated in the policy development process, plus been involved in every conservative Ontario or national leadership campaign since 1976.
Mr. McDougall has also worked as a professional political organizer in nine election or leadership campaigns.
Mr. McDougall was elected founding president of the National Blue Committee, a group of federal conservative activists and fundraisers who started working in 1998 to restore competitive multi-party democracy in Canada by uniting small ‘c’ conservatives, and who subsequently played leading roles in the United Alternative campaign, and founding of both the Canadian Alliance and Conservative Party of Canada. Throughout the pre-merger period, Mr. McDougall authored all of the Committee’s press releases and political communications materials, and was frequently interviewed by the national news media. In 2006 he was co-chair for the election campaign of a riding for the Conservative Party of Canada, and in 2007 was chair of the riding’s Ontario P.C. Party election campaign, and continues to serve on both the provincial and federal association Board of Directors.
Mr. McDougall’s private sector career started with the sales and marketing of interactive pre-Internet digital media in 1982. He is a subject matter expert in many areas of social policy, economic development, online communications and the digital economy. From 1995-2003 he was an active member of the Ontario Minister of Industry and Trade’s Policy Advisory Committee and Chaired an Access to Capital Sub-committee. Since 1985 he has provided strategic and financial planning consulting services relating to business plans and memoranda, the public listing process and financing.
In addition, his expertise has been utilized in corporate communications, public/investor relations, public affairs, and for public and trade events on an international scale.
Mr. McDougall is currently a management and financing consultant for several green technology companies and real estate ventures, and Associate with Leonard Domino and Associates.
